DNA Lab Mrs. Powell

ISO: 1000
APP: 3.0
SS: 160
I was assigned to go shoot a lab being done in Mrs. Powells class room where the students would do a number of steps and at the end they would get to see their DNA and get to keep it for themselves...
Aside from the gross spitting and slobbering caused by immature freshman I enjoyed shooting because I got to get a variety of angles all with different steps happening. I made sure that I shot diversity as well. With the class room being dark i had to raise my ISO past 800 and i kept my APP lower so i could get more light that way as well.

Katelyn Spread

ISO: 800
APP: 3.5
SS: 200

Friday morning I was assigned to take pictures of Katelyn Markham and my first attempt at these pictures were horrible and disappointing. I had to retake them monday morning. I ended up with better pictures because I wasn't being lazy and I was paying attention. I sort of got to learn how to place pictures on a spread but I'm sure if I tried to do it alone then I would need help. These new pictures in my opinion could have a shot at being in the yearbook because they were properly exposed the second time I took them. This was probably my worst work recently because of the lack of effort.

Emily Pictures

ISO: 1200
APP: 3.0
SS: 200
Friday I was assigned to shoot pictures of Emily for a spread in the year book. I really enjoyed shooting this because I got to see the way that Emily interacted with people. I had always seen her in the hallway with someone assisting her but I had never seen her light up the way she did when she saw my camera and realized that she was the one I was taking pictures of. I think these photos deserve a spot in the yearbook because they were properly exposed and are story telling images.

Spooky

ISO: 1250
APP: 3.5
SS: 13

I shot this picture for the "spooky" picture on the photo challenge. I really liked this photo because the light coming in from behind the tree was just a regular street light but it was orange so it gave it more of a spooky effect, also the tree is black looking with drooping limbs which enhances the "spooky" look as well. I think this could be used in my photo challenge because it is original and creative in my opinion. While i was shooting this i learned that in order to get the back light i wanted the shudder speed had to be lower than usual. The higher my SS was the less black the tree looked and the less orange the light was.

English Projects

ISO: 800
APP: 4.5
SS: 80
I was assigned to shoot Mrs. Murray's class room presenting their projects. I think these photos could be used because it shows exactly what was going on. This assignment was only difficult because you couldn't move to the middle of the room to get pictures because the teacher was sitting in the back to see the projects being presented. Also, there were three Photographers so I wasn't to worried because we all had different angles and different lenses. Next time I shoot an in class assignment I will not use a wide angle shot because then you get the back of heads instead of just your subject.

Something Red

This picture was shot with my I Phone. I am thinking this picture for the image 'red' in the photo challenge. Im not so fond of flowers most of the time but these were really pretty. I like how well the photo turned out just to be shot with my phone. I am still thinking of other things red that I could get creative images of and hope to have the most creative and cool ones. This photo was recreated to look like the one at the top and I feel I did a pretty good job at making do with what I had. I just hope I can come up with more creative photos for the challenge.

Studio Pictures

ISO: 320
APP: 4.0
SS: 25
Today I shot in the studio for the first time. It was really fun, Kelsi and Paige were with me and Kelsi taught us the basic way of setting things up. We were practicing for a photo in the photo challenge. The only major difficulties were getting the alien in the right place so that when we took a picture of the subjects face there wasn't a strange shadow across their face. I really liked how the pictures turned out. I liked how how lighting we got to the eyes so that you could really see their color. I think these photos would be useful to my photo challenge because they aren't just something i "sprayed and prayed" for, i actually set them up and made adjustments to get that unique photo i was looking for.

Thursday I got to shoot the Senior Bon Fire. This was really cool but very difficult all at once. I shot with a 28-135mm lens and a 30D. This was difficult because I had never used a 30 and all the settings were different from the 7D which is what I usually shoot with. Also, I attempted my first silhouette but couldn't exactly get it because of the way the High Steppers were angled in front of the fire. This was really fun because there were so many things happening at once so you never had to worry about getting to many shots of the same thing. My favorite part was towards the end because most seniors gathered together for the song "We are Young' by fun and it made great story telling images. You could see the sadness and excitement all at once in their faces. I cant wait for mine.

Senior Pep Rally

ISO: 1000
APP: 5.0
SS: 70

ISO: 3200
APP: 5.6
SS: 120
ISO: 1000
APP: 5.0
SS: 70

I was assigned to shoot the senior Pep rally Friday. This Pep rally was probably the best one because most of the seniors are already emotional about senior year and so when they played the senior video, reality kind of set in. This kind of emotion makes great story telling images. It was difficult to get some of these images because there were so many photographers taking pictures that you couldn't crowd the students. Also with the video starting so quickly it was difficult to get my setting right in such a hurry but its nothing I haven't been prepared for. I really liked the angle of my photos because I captured the emotion on their face and them looking at the screen.
