Costume Day

ISO: 800
APP: 3.0
SS: 200
Yesterday I was assigned to shoot the spirit day which was costume day. Fortunately, lots of students participated in this spirit day so I was able to get a lot of images. I think these pictures could be used in the yearbook because I made sure I captured people who aren't usually "put out there." This assignment wasn't too difficult because I think I've finally gotten the hang of shooting spirit days. Ive come a long way since the beginning of the year. I learned that shooting outside in the rain, even under coverage, is still difficult to produce images without getting the over exposed light from the wet concrete in the picture.

College Fair

ISO: 800
APP: 3.5
SS: 225
My assignment was to go and take pictures of the juniors from Texas High looking at colleges present at the A&M Texarknana Collge fair. This assignment wasn't too difficult because there were so many people interacting with each other and speaking to the colleges that getting good story telling images was possible. The only real difficulty was trying to speak to colleges myself while somehow taking pictures of other people doing just that. Also, since there were kids from all over it was hard getting images of just our students without having five others from another school beside them. I learned that sometimes you're gonna have to give up what you wanna do to capture what others around you are doing.

New Technique

ISO: 400
APP: 22
SS: 40
My assignment was to find a cool picture and try and recreate it. While Bailey was going through old blog she showed me one of a technique she had learned and the image produced was really cool. I asked bailey to help me recreate that and she did. She said you must have a high APP and a low SS in order to capture the blurred background. This took a lot of shots but in the end i was fairly pleased with what i produced. I wasn't able to get the focus on my subjects face because she tended to move a lot but I was able to get the background pretty blurred which is what I was hoping for.

MIC Club

ISO: 800
APP: 3.0
SS: 200
So, I didn't get to shoot MIC club because by the time i left the golf tournament and found the place, they had already finished painting nails and talking. All the residents were taken back to their rooms. So to prove that we went, me and Paige took a photo of a few residents heading back to their rooms from the meeting. i learned that even if you have GPS on your phone its probably better to ask someone who knows where your wanting to go. Im just glad i actually got to attend the events, because i orginally wasnt going to get to.

Gallery

I was assigned to create a gallery, with bailey as an assignment for yearbook. We chose to do it over each sport. I thought this would be very easy and no trouble at all, but I was very wrong. Not only is it impossible to work photoshop but finding usable images to put on this galley was like finding a needle in a haystack literally. Although, now I know how to do it, I wouldn't want to just because of all the set backs we came across.

ATPI

ISO: 800
SS: 300
Today I entered my ATPI images in -Student Life- to be sent off. This really made me look back on all my photos and critique my own work. I think these photos were the best choice because they are all story telling images. i enjoyed looking back on all my work and getting to see how far I've come since the beginning of the year. I hope to look back in another three months and see how much further id come from now too. I hope one day to win awards with my photos.

Golf Tournament

ISO:400
APP:4.5
SS: 250
This was my first golf tournament i had ever gotten to shoot. I used to play it but taking pictures of it gave me a whole different experience. Since it was played in the morning i was constantly having to watch my ISO. It was cloudy out so i mostly kept it to 400. my APP was also as high as it could go since i was shooting from so far away. My shutter speed was relatively high since i wanted to capture their swing. This was a learning experience because i had to watch my setting and be very patient to get a shot. I enjoyed it but i don't think i ever want to do it again.

Homecoming Game

ISO: 800
AP: 3.0
SS: 200
Friday I shot the Homecoming game, which was a little different than all the other games because there were so many chances to get great story telling images. We were given the option to shoot what ever we wanted which allowed me to get creative with my images. I made sure that i used flash correctly, and didn't beam the subject. i think this picture is pretty cool and could be used in yearbook or newspaper. I learned not to get in front of angry football players because you will get run over.

Senior Panorama

ISO:125
AP: 4.5

ISO: 200
AP: 4.5

Yesterday I shot the Senior Panorama. This was very difficult, because when I shot it the sun was gradually coming up so i was constantly having to change my ISO. I learned that not only can lighting mess up your photograph but so can shadows and where they fall. For Example, it took a good while to find the right position and the only position where shadows weren't on my subjects face.

Homecoming

ISO: 800
SS:125
APP: 3.0
I got to shoot homecoming recently and aside from the disgusting unknown liquids scattered through out the room, it was quite the learning experience. This was difficult because, we were told not to get specific inappropriate images and that seemed to be all the students would do. I did not get a chance to produce some of the cool images i wanted but this defiantly tested my comfort level with being so close to people. I had to get in the middle of drenched boys just to try and get a good shot which sometimes failed, but overall i think this helped me to get out of my shell. though keeping my settings in check wasn't hard, producing quality appropriate images was!
